When you build a solar system in your RV the wire is important because it carries the power that your panels produce down to your charge controller and down to your RV’s batteries. This wire needs to be capable of carrying the right amount of power the required distance while minimizing loss. Consulting a wire gauge chart can be helpful at determining the best size wire to hook up your RV solar kit.
The most common RV solar wire is 10AWG wire but you will sometimes find 8 AWG and 6 AWG on larger solar arrays.
