Charge controller remotes are not always required when connecting a solar panel system to the batteries. The charge controller is installed in the circuit to keep the batteries from overcharging the batteries.
Sometimes the charge controller is not always in the best place for operation and a remote panel may be available to help with this issue. A charge controller remote will often provide the following benefits.

- Can be installed from 5 to 25 feet away from the charge controller
- Can function as a programming point for the charge controller
